How should I describe him? He lives in a pineapple under the sea, porous and yellow and absorbent is he! SpongeBob has been around for almost 10 years now, and his popularity has grown since his conception. You can find him and his hilarious supporting on Nickelodeon every night. There is his slightly dim witted friend Patrick, who is a starfish, Sandy, who is a squirrel living under the ocean to study marine life, Squidward the squid neighbor who SpongeBob annoys, and Mr. Krabs, who owns the restaurant where SpongeBob works. (They serve something there called a Krabby Patty. I don't think it's made of crab, but it contains a secret ingredient.)

One of the most fascinating aspects of the Sponge Bob Square Pants cartoon is it's staying power. The kids who grew up watching Sponge Bob continue watching him long into their teens! This is amazing because most kids shed their preteen favorite cartoons because they are trying to be "cool". SpongeBob may be "square", but he is the definition of cool.
